Inspector shoots self in Owerri

 Tragedy occurred on Wednesday as a mobile police inspector deployed to the Fire Service Police Station, on Egbu Road, Owerri, Imo State, Umor Godwin, shot himself and died instantly.

  The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Imo State Command, Orlando Ikeokwu, who confirmed the incident to The Guardian, said though as of the time of the confirmation, reason for the suicide was unknown.

  According to him, “the deceased simply entered a room known as ‘camp’ at the station, closed the door and a gun noise was heard.”

  Ikeokwu hinted that after hearing the noise, other policemen entered the room and saw Umor’s soaked in his own blood.

    “It just happened. He was an inspector and the mobile police deployed him there. His name is Umor Godwin. He entered a room there, known as camp, and other officers had a gun noise. When they opened the door, they saw that he had shot himself and died.”
