An Asaba-based On-Air-Personality (OAP) and General Manager of a local radio station, Bridge FM, Asaba, Mr. Gospel Amaliemifobu has narrated how he survived a gun attack on his life last Sunday in Asaba.
Amaliemifobu, told journalists on Tuesday in Asaba that he was driving along the Benin-Onitsha highway, after the Koka flyover, when masked gumen overtook him and shot at his car.
“I was coming from the Koka flyover, along the highway just before the Oshimili South local government secretariat when a car overtook my car and blocked me.
“The men inside the car, fully masked asked me to pull over, but before I could say a word, one of them jumped down and opened fire, hitting my windscreen and back tire.
“The bullet pierced thorough my car, shattering my windscreen and punturing my back tire, and also leaving a wide hole by the door side.
“You can see the damage done by the bullet, but I was lucky that I was not hit. I thank God for saving my life”, Amaliemifobu said.
He said the gumen drove off after the shooting, before passers-bye, who witnesses the incident gathered to sympatize with him.
The radio personality said he had reported the attack to police authorities in the state, and expressed optimism that the police would carry out a thorough investigation into the incident to apprehend the culprits.
When contacted, the Delta Police public relations officer, DSP Bright Edafe comfirmed to our correspondent on Monday night that Amaliemifobu actually called him last Sunday over the said incident.
“I received a call from Amaliemifobu and he narrated to me that he was attacked and shot by gunmen last Sunday.
“However, I cannot say much concerning the incident at the moment bacause I have not seen a formal police report.
“I will reach Amaliemifobu by tommorow morming to find out if he had made a formal report to the police.
“If he had done so, we will then commence a full scale investigations into the matter”, Edafe said.
