The Armed Forces of Nigeria has confirmed the death of former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi.
According to the spokesman of the military, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, “With deep sorrow, I announced the death of Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (rtd), a former Chief of Defence Staff (1999-2003). He passed on in Abuja in the early hours of today. More details will be communicated later.”
Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi was the first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic. Ogohi was the first Naval officer to reach four-star rank in the Nigerian military, including being the first chief of Defence Staff from Navy. Ogohi passed away after a brief illness.
