FCT, Rivers CPs bag IGP recognition award

The Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Benneth Igweh and others have bagged the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) recognition award.

 

Others that bagged the award were the CP in charge of Delta, Mr Olufemi Abaniwonda, DSP Isaac Iko-Ojo, Special Squad I, Lagos, ASP Godwin Hosea, 14 PMF Adamawa and Insp. Atagbede Eneojo.

 

Speaking at the maiden edition of the Nigeria Police Commendations and Awards ceremony on Monday in Abuja, the Inspector Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr Olukayode Egbetokun said the award was to inspire officers.

 

He said all the nominees for the Special Achievement Award, DCP Mohammed Sanusi,  Commander, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), the Nigeria Police Force National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC and DSP Ntul Sylvanus of the Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD),  Borno emerged winners.

 

According to him, the ommandations and award of the Year were in 16 categories with CSP Odeyeyiwa Oladimeji emerging winner of Crime Buster of the Year

 

He said other categories and the winners were Alabi Kayode, Traffic Warden, Cpl. Abbey Yetunde, Police Sportsman, CP Muhammed Gumei, Community Policing Advocate, and SP Haruna Abdullahi Police Public Relations Officer.

Others are ACP Dere Olalekan, Medical Personnel ASP Nnamdi Egbunike, Cyber Crime Buster,  SP Kasumu Oluropo, Investigator, Insp. Onyia Everistus, Detective and Patrol Team From 40 PMF, Taraba winning the Patrol Team of the Year.

 

He said other winners were CSP Shaba Aliyu, Divisional Police Officer of the Year, ACP Muhammad Musa, Area Commander and ASP Madaki Emmanuel, Police Lega Officer.

 

According to him, SP Elaigwu Augustine, Commander, Counter-Insurgency/Joint Operation FOB of the Police Command in Anambra won the Award for Gallantry while the CP in charge of Rivers, Mr Olatunji Disu bagged the CP award of the Year.

 

He said all the nominees for award of integrity, SP Odris Ibrahim, SP Okoi Iferi, Counter Intelligence Unit emerged winners.

 

In his remark,  Mr Bala Ciroma, the Chairman of the Nigeria Police Award Committee and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of Finance and Account said the winners had emerged after rigorous screening.

 

He said nominations were recieved from Police Commands and Formations across the country.

 

Ciroma said the police commendations and awards was initiated to inspire and motivate officers in the discharge of their duties.
