The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified efforts to combat criminal activities in the region with a series of raids on identified black-spots. These operations, which are part of the command’s ongoing strategy to protect public and private infrastructure, have led to significant breakthroughs in the fight against crime.

The daily raids carried out by the FCT Police Command are aimed at achieving several key objectives, all contributing to the safety and security of residents. One primary goal is preventing crime. By targeting notorious criminal black-spots, the police aim to deter and stop criminal activities before they take place. Another key objective is protecting public infrastructure.

The raids focus on disrupting illegal activities such as the theft and vandalism of vital public assets, including manhole covers, streetlights, and power cables. In addition, the police are taking steps to tackle drug abuse by targeting hotspots related to drug trafficking and narcotics use. Finally, the raids help in upholding the law.

Through consistent enforcement, the police demonstrate their commitment to maintaining order and ensuring that criminals face justice.

Recent raids have been conducted across a number of known criminal hideouts within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). These areas include Apo-Dutse Panteka, the Diplomatic Zone, the New PDP Secretariat, Kabusa Panteka, and Ajakaita (Tungan-Maje), among others. Other targeted locations included Abuja-Kaduna Road, Jabi Panteka, Apo-Waru Panteka, and Area 1 (Monkey Village). Further operations were carried out in Durumi Village, Gwarimpa, Angwan Tivi, Mpape (Mashafa and Shishinpe villages), and Durumi III (Burukutu Garden). The raids also covered Mabushi (Gishiri Village), Kubwa (by Pipeline and NEPA Road), and Maitama (under the Transcorp Bridge).

The efforts of the FCT Police Command have yielded notable successes. In total, 348 suspects have been arrested for various criminal activities. Of these, 320 individuals have been prosecuted and charged in court.

Additionally, the police have seized 10 trucks filled with stolen metals, disrupting the market for these vandalized materials. Significant recoveries were also made, including 26 manhole covers and 20 solar streetlight poles, which will help restore critical public infrastructure.

The raids led to the confiscation of large quantities of AEDC armored cables, preventing further vandalism of electrical infrastructure. Police also seized substantial amounts of narcotics, including dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, thus reducing drug-related crimes. Finally, the recovery of 11 firearms has eliminated dangerous weapons from circulation, contributing to a safer environment for residents.

The FCT Police Command remains unwavering in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents within the territory. The Command urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
