FCT police command parades suspected electricity cable thieves

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on Friday paraded seven suspected electricity cables thieves.

The Commissioner of Police CP Babaji Sunday who paraded the suspects arrested at Mpape and Masaka area of FCT at the command headquarters warned that henceforth anyone with the intent to commit crime should either repent or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.

He called on FCT residents to aid the fight against crimes within the seat of power and assured that he will consolidate on the legacies of his predecessors in office.

The police boss noted that security is the business of all and that the command would work with the FCT Administration, sister security agencies and community stakeholders to nip crime in the bud within the city.

He said: “I will consolidate on the legacies of my predecessor by ensuring that we enhance proactive intelligence based crime fighting strategies to nip crimes in the bud within the FCT.

“Without mincing words, I want to state categorically that no criminal elements will be tolerated within the FCT, hence anyone with criminal intentions should either repent or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.”

The suspects included Usman Abdullahi, 37 and Sanusi Adamu, 30 who are residents of Mpape and Masaka in the territory.

They were arrested for theft of electricity hight tension cables along Shere-Bwari in the city and exhibits recovered from them are over 20 yards of high-tension aluminum cables.

Also paraded was one Justice Ezeogu, 36 with six bags of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana along Nyanya in the FCT.

 

He was said to have confessed to being a merchant of Indian hemp and ‘ll be handed over the relevant agencies for prosecution.

Other suspects are Ndifreke Samuel, 36, of Area 1 for one-chance robbery. He was also said to have met his waterloo when attempting to rob a victim of a Toyota Corolla with a sharp knife.

There was also paraded one Michael Itopa, 24, who was also said to ‘be robbed his victim in Garki Abuja who was arrested while trying to escape. He was arrested with a toy gun as exhibit.

Two other suspects are Ebuba Mbani, 33 and Sunday Atu, 26, who were cultists and members of a group known as the black movement of Africa.

There was also one Jack Bemdoo, 32, of Durumi Abuja, who was arrested for impersonating as personnel of Nigeria Army and Air force, using their uniforms to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

The Commissioner of Police assured that the suspects would be arraigned in court.
