The Port Harcourt Zonal Commander of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  Assistant Commander of the EFCC,  ACE Aliyu Naibi has called on  members of the National Youth Service Corps ,  NYSC,  to take the Community Development Service,  CDS, component of their service year more seriously in order to reap the benefits inherent in the Service.

He gave this charge on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State while receiving members of the EFCC/ CDS group,  Obio- Akpor  Local Government Area of Rivers State,   that paid him a Courtesy Visit.  Naibi stressed that public sensitization is an important component of the work of the EFCC and urged the CDS group to take it seriously.

” As members of the EFCC/ CDS group,  I want you to take the group more seriously and everything it represents.  Public ownership of the war against corruption through adequate sensitization on the works of the Commission is an important duty your group is expected to perform.  You can organise quiz competitions, debates in Secondary Schools to enlighten students on the ills of corrupt practices. You can adopt other techniques but the essential thing is to educate the public on the works of the EFCC”, he said.

The Zonal Commander also appreciated the relationship between the EFCC and NYSC, describing it as critical and strategic.   “The EFCC/ NYSC relationship is critical and quite strategic.  This needs to be strengthened and maximised.  We need to be interacting regularly and build robust synergy to achieve mutually- beneficial objectives”, he said.

Earlier, President of the EFCC/ CDS group,  Isah Okpanachi Abdullahi commended the EFCC for its huge success in convictions and called for more involvement of Corps members in its activities.  “EFCC has brought many cases to justice unlike other agencies. We are ready to collaborate better with the Commission in our community development services”, he said.
