Child Abuse: Police nab kissing a kid in viral video

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Oluwatosin Babatunde, seen kissing a minor in a viral video
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Bala Elkana, said in a statement that:” The attention of Lagos state police Command was drawn to a viral video showing Adeyeye Oluwatosin Babatunde, 23, of Kajola Street, Shagamu, Ogun State, a Botany student of the Lagos State University, kissing his three years old step sister (name withheld). The incident happened on February 6, in their residence at Shagamu.

“The Commissioner of Police Lagos State Police Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu, tasked detectives from the Gender Unit to analyse the video and apprehend the suspect. The team got the suspect on May 5, at about 11.am. He has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Yaba for diligent prosecution in Court.
“The Commissioner of Police expressed his gratitude to Nigerians who helped in bringing the incident to the notice of the police and urged everyone to continue to speak out against sexual and gender-based violence. Together we can stop rape, stop child abuse, and a crime against our women and children.

However, Babatunde in his reaction to the allegation, said he really kissed her step-sister, a minor but without bad intention:

” On a fateful day, I was staying outside our house with my father and the little girl. While we were outside, I kissed the little girl and made a video of it which I pasted on my WhatsApp.It was from my WhatsApp that a girl in my school saw it and started accusing me of rape. She started calling me names. Then the police arrested me. I did not have any bad intention, but I am sorry if what I have done is wrong”
