Nigerian Army (NA) has called for enhanced support from the well meaning Nigerians to enable it implement its constitutional mandate of defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria.
The Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu made the call while briefing newsmen on Thursday in Abuja on the coming Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Annual Conference slated to hold from December 4 to 10, 2022 in Sokoto State.
Speaking on the theme, “Building a Professional Nigerian Army for the 21st Century Security Environment,” the Army Spokesman noted that NA has achieved significant successes in the war against insurgency, banditry and other sundry crimes hence the need for Nigerians to support it to consolidate on its gains.
He lauded the consistent demonstration of capacity and zeal by the NA in defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty against external aggression as well as giving aid to civil authority in mitigating internal security challenges over the years.
According to him, the choice to host the last Quarter COAS conference in Sokoto State ,North West part of the country was necessitated by the need to conduct Civil Military operational activities through non kinetic approaches to mitigate banditry and other crimes in the zone.
He said, the event will offer in the opportunity for the reappraisal of administrative affairs, evaluation and review of ongoing operational engagements of the NA in all theatres of operations within the six geopolitical zones that will take the inform decision towards addressing the multifaceted security challenges in the country
Brigadier General Nwachukwu noted that some critical stakeholders would be discussing on a result oriented issues towards achieving far reaching solutions in the zone.
He lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and the entire Nigerians for their untiring support to the army towards restoring peace in the country.
