Team Nigeria continues to showcase their prowess at the 2nd Africa Military Games, Abuja, 2024, with remarkable performances at the shooting range of Shittu Alao Barrack, Keffi.
On Day 4 of the competition, the Nigerian shooting team triumphed in the men’s 200m rifle prone position, claiming both individual and team gold.
Sergeant Moses of the Nigerian Army, competing on target 9, topped the field with an impressive 217 points, securing the gold medal.
He held the lead from the start, scoring 52 points in the opening round, and maintained his momentum throughout Despite strong challenges from Tunisia’s Seif Azizi, who finished second with 208 points while Algeria’s Bennatia Kheireddine,took third with 204 points,
In the team event, Nigeria’s success was further solidified as Sergeant Moses was joined by Sergeant Alex Abakwa (155 points) and Stephen Thomas (201 points), both of the Nigerian Army. The trio combined for a total of 575 points, earning the gold in the team competition.
As of now, Nigeria leads the shooting medal standings with 16 gold, 9 silver, and 8 bronze medals, followed by Algeria in second place with 11 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze.
Kenya is in third with 4 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze, while Tunisia holds fourth with 2 gold, 5 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
The shooting events will conclude today, Tuesday with the Falling Pan competition, and Nigeria remains poised for further success.
