Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye has assured the readiness of his administration to pay the new national minimum wage to all categories of workers in the Council.

The Council Chairman gave the assurance on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 in his maiden meeting with Management and Staff of the Council, held at the Council’s Event Centre in Issele-Uku.

He said his administration has gone ahead to include the new National Minimum Wage in its supplementary budget just passed by the Legislative Arm of the Local Government, noting that the implementation of the New National Minimum Wage is in consonance with his administration’s GAINS mantra.

He appreciated the workers for their support and cooperation since his assumption of office and said through their unwavering commitment, his administration has been able to commence in full force activities towards the realization of his Administration’s vision to REBUILD Aniocha North Local Government Area for MORE GAINS

“For me I believe in human capital development, because from where I am coming as a politician, I always tell them, that while we will do roads and engage in other laudable infrastructure projects, we will also develop the people.

“If you don’t develop the people, who will ply on those roads, if you don’t develop the people, those hospitals you are building who will go there.

“That was why, on my assumption and in my capacity as the Executive Chairman, I had to increase the stipend of casual workers from N10, 000 to N40, 000 and N50, 000 in some cases.

“Also, in our supplementary budget that we presented to the Legislative Arm which has just been passed, waiting for my accent, we have already keyed into the New National Minimum Wage.

“Once the approval, based on the minimum wage comes from the State Government, from that Month, we will start the implementation of the N70, 000 minimum wage to all categories of workers. Because once it is done, we don’t have to submit another supplementary budget to the legislative Arm to be able to pay the new National Minimum Wage.

“We also engaged a good number of Personal and Political Aides from our people to make sure they enjoy the dividends of democracy.

“Without the workers, we cannot achieve anything as a Government. I therefore urge you to continue to support our administration and we will continue to ensure that your welfare is well taken care of by the grace of God.”

Hon Chinye also restated his administration’s commitment towards the completion and commissioning of the Aniocha North NULGE Event Centre, renovation of the administrative blocks of the Council with needed Chairs and tables as well as other amenities to be conducive for the comfort of the workers even as he said that his administration will continue to work for the overall interest of the wellbeing of the people of Aniocha North.

“Let me assure the people of this Local government area that I will not fail them and I will not fail the workers of this Council,” he assured and said that with the passage of the Local Government supplementary budget, activities of his administration will move to various towns and communities for impactful and people oriented projects based on the needs of the various communities.

He appreciated God for His grace upon his administration and noted some of the projects and programmes attracted by illustrious indigenes of Aniocha North within the period he came in as the Executive Chairman of the Local Government.

“We have been able to bring about fresh air within the Council premises and have also influenced the opening of our Bank, UBA, in Issele-Uku after putting in place necessary precautionary measures on ground.

“We want to thank the Chairman of UBA, Dr Tony Elumelu for making this possible and also in a special way to his beloved brother, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu who made the whole thing to be fast.

“Also, we have started the beautification of Issele-Uku and its environs, the three gateways to Aniocha North; Issele-Asagba, Issele-Uku and Onicha-Ugbo. By God’s grace, next week we will be done with Issele-Uku.

We will move down to Onicha-Ugbo and from Onicha-Ugbo, we move to Issele-Asagba.

“Those are the three gateways we have in Aniocha North and we believe we should beautify them.

“We want to sincerely thank Dr Gabriel Ogbechie, owner of RainOil. He is the one sponsoring the ongoing beautification of the Aniocha North gateways, “the Council boss revealed.

He appreciated the State Governor for presenting Staff of Office to the Obi of Issele-Mkpitime and for approving to be in Ubulu Ubu on Friday, September 27, 2024 for the purpose of presenting Staff of Office to the traditional ruler, even as he prayed for the remaining two communities without State approved traditional ruler for the needful to be done.

Responding, Branch Chairman of NULGE, Aniocha North Local Government Council, Comrade Collins Ogwugwa, on behalf of the Council Management and Staff appreciated the Council boss for his uncommon leadership.

He noted the cordial relationship between the Chairman and his vice, the synergy between the Executive and the Legislative Arm, even as he noted the uncommon love and show of concern for the welfare and well-being of the entire workforce in the Council.

Comrade Ogwugwa described the Executive Chairman as Mr Fix It and pledged the unalloyed commitment of the Management and staff of the Council towards the transilation of the Chairman’s vision for Aniocha North into reality.
